In the 21st century, the development of digital radiology departments has gradually become a key focus for the radiology community and hospitals. The Radiology Department of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine, has introduced the Mednova Staray series dual-column DR system, which can be used for digital X-ray imaging of the cervical spine, chest, and abdomen in standing positions, and the head, limbs, and spine in supine positions. Since its launch in April 2020, the equipment has been in operation for over 36 months with a high uptime rate, effectively improving the diagnostic level and speed of radiology, alleviating patient stress, and enhancing the patient experience.
The Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, affiliated with the Zhejiang University School of Medicine, is a public, comprehensive, tertiary-level Grade A hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research. It was funded by Sir Run Run Shaw, a renowned Hong Kong industrialist, and with matching funds from the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government. The Department of Radiology is a key medical discipline in Zhejiang Province, currently boasting 5 doctoral supervisors and 4 master's supervisors. The department possesses a complete set of imaging diagnostic and treatment equipment manufactured by companies such as GE (USA), Siemens (Germany), Philips (Netherlands), Shimadzu (Japan), Fuji (Japan), and Mednova Medical.
The Mednova Staray Dual-Column Intelligent DR was recognized as an "Excellent Domestic Medical Equipment" by the China Association for Medical Equipment since 2021. It features an amorphous silicon cesium iodide ultra-high-definition flat panel detector, a split-type high-heat-capacity X-ray tube, a self-developed 50KW high-power high-voltage generator, and the Staray image algorithm workstation. It employs new process technologies throughout the entire examination process, including patient registration, imaging condition selection, patient positioning, image acquisition and processing, and even PACS network transmission. Operation is simple, especially with its intelligent rack control, intelligent multi-dimensional track function, intelligent anti-collision, and intelligent chest height recognition functions. The integrated electric control positioning makes operation more convenient for doctors, effectively solving the problem of high patient flow and congestion during peak hours in routine radiology examinations.
The Mednova Staray series dual-column intelligent DR uses self-developed core digital medical imaging chain technology, which has a fast imaging speed, and the radiographers can immediately observe high-definition images on the screen, and lesions are clearly visible, assisting doctors in making more accurate diagnoses. AEC automatic exposure control makes it easier to control the imaging dose, saving time and effort.
